Hi, Just read this post, chocolate is full of endorphins which gives the happy effect. Enjoy it from time to time. When we are happy our joints are more relaxed, can't be a bad thing. Lorna x

Hi Jean
That is a good point. I will certainly be asking my rheumy nurse for a check on vit d levels next time I am there. The longer I have this awful condition I am finding out lots of things that are neglected. Someone told me that you are suppose to have a chest x ray before starting mxt but I didn't get one and folic acid well! everyone seems to be on different amounts. Who is right? Sorry about moaning but I feel better for it.
Thanks for listening

I had to have a chest X-ray before starting MTX, plus some Lung Function tests as well. Kathleen x

hi Sheila,
yes i had a chest X Ray the day i was diagnosed and before starting Methotrexate.
not quite sure what you mean re Folic Acid ... but think we all take in if using Methotrexate but the dose seems to vary.

I've just found this thread and it makes very interesting reading. I've been vegetarian for 28 years (no meat/fish/poultry/gelatine etc.) and am lactose intolerant so no milk/cream but I've been able to 'get away' with cheese as long as I didn't eat much or everyday. Not since RA - cheese is most definitely a big trigger for me so now I'm almost vegan. But I do eat a lot of pulses/beans/nuts and fresh veg so am confident I'm getting enough calcium. Since starting steroids I've also been given calcium + vit D tablets. I was wondering about wheat - I notice it's had a few mentions so I may experiment with that too. But I really think diet needs to be a factor in combination with meds not a replacement. Vicky xx

I'm eating wheat / gluten free at the moment. Only temporarily, see how things go... Will keep you posted. There's a lot more choice in the supermarkets these days which makes things a bit easier.
